What is the KWF Outdoor Adventure Camp?

The Kansas Wildlife Federation has proudly co-sponsored Outdoor Adventure Camp (OAC) for over 30 years. OAC is held at Rock Springs Ranch in Junction City every summer.

Camp WaShunGa area of Rock Spring Ranch

July 23-28, 2023

Kansas youth aged 10-12

What to Expect:

Canoeing – You’ll learn the basics of “driving” a canoe, including the draw, the pry and the J strokes.

Fishing – Expert anglers will be our instructors. With a little luck you may even catch the “Big’n” of the day.

Shooting Sports – Instruction will be given in three different areas: rifle, shotgun, and archery.

Crafts – Instruction in building survival bracelets and painting your own camp T-shirt.

Field Trip – Milford Fish Hatchery and Nature Center

Swimming – Every day you’ll go for a dip in the swimming pool to wash off the prairie dust. Bring your swimsuit!

How much does OAC cost?

2023 Total Camp Fee = $375

This fee covers:
Multiple nights stay as well as food and drink for the duration of the stay. Mornings will be spent traipsing the grounds at Camp WaShunGa with instructors, getting a hands-on feel for how the various critters and plants live together in the ecosystem we call Kansas. Afternoons are then spent learning about several general interest areas of the Kansas outdoors, including: mammals, insects, birds, fish and amphibians. Every child will receive instruction in archery and shooting sports. Total fees include all guns, safety adviser’s supervision, ammunition, as well as eye protection and ear protection.
